The History Of The Lighthouse.
History of the Pendleton Lighthouse Church
It was started by Norman Rutzen in 1964. We started in a tent Revival in a vacant lot that was by a pea cannery that is where Melanie Square is now.
Then we started having church in a small mall that is where Denny’s is now.
Then we built the building we are in now in 1969.
Norman Rutzen Pastored it for six years.
Then Brother French Pastored it for two years
Then Bro. Brott Pastored it for two years.
Then Bro. Russel Pastored it for two years.
I was living in Pocatello but my father was battling cancer and so I came to Pendleton to help him with his business.
While I was here the Pastor resigned, so the district asked me to take it until they could find somebody else.
The first service I recall there being about eight teenagers sitting on one pew.
That was it!
So over the last many years, I have been Pastoring this church,
God has been good to this church.
Many lives have been changed.
People have been filled with the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking in tongues.
God has blessed us with faithful saints who have worked hard for God’s kingdom.
We are looking forward to what God has for us in the years to come until He returns and takes us home.
